Fuser or not to Fuser - How to pick the right paper for your laser printer

When selecting a laser sheet the first thing you need to know is if you machine uses fuser oil or not? The question we get all the time is "what is fuser oil"? If you ask that question, there is a 99.9% chance your machine doesn't use it because it's a consumable that needs to be replaced/refilled from time to time. Fuser oil is an old technology used in the last generation of clc/clp, newer machines, i.e. the last 8 years by in large, do not use fuser oil.

Why is this important, well if you put a fuser oil sheet into a non-fuser oil machine, there is a good chance that you are going to melt the sheet to your fuser unit and ruin the part. The opposite can also be true, if you put a non-fuser oil sheet into an older machine which uses fuser oil, you can once again ruin that part.

If you aren't sure whether or not your machine uses oil, consult the owner's manual or call the manufacturer. Many times customers ask us and truthfully we don't know (there are thousands of copiers and printers)and we aren't going to guess because as the saying goes, no good deed goes unpunished. If on the small chance we're wrong once, you know someone is calling blaming us for their problems. Don't call me cynical, you know it's true. ☺
